On June 19 this year, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine plans to decide on the appointment of qualification evaluation of candidates for vacant positions in the courts of appeal and the High Anti-Corruption Court, as well as to determine the order of stages of the qualification exam and the timeline of the competitions.  

Three judges were recognized as suitable for the position held, and one was recognized as not suitable for the position held

On June 11, 2024, the Panel of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, at its meeting, held interviews and determined the results of the qualification evaluation of seven local court judges.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation for the compliance with the position held, the Commission made the following decisions:

Judge confirmed suitability for the position held

On June 10, 2024, the plenary session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered the issue of suitability a judge of the Commercial Court of Donetsk Oblast Hanna Levshyna for her position.

Based on the results of the meeting, the Commission decided to recognize judge of the Commercial Court of Donetsk Oblast Hanna Levshyna as suitable for the position held.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine held a public discussion of the draft Regulation on the procedure for passing the qualification exam and the methodology for evaluating candidates

On June 07, 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine held a public discussion of proposals and comments to the draft Regulation on the procedure for passing the qualification exam and the methodology for evaluating candidates.

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine reported on the first year of work

On June 06, 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine conducted a briefing at which the members of the Commission summarized the results of the first year of work and identified priorities in their activities.

During this period, the Commission held 334 meetings and considered 874 issues (224 – in meetings of the First and Second Chambers; 299 – in panels; 351 – in plenary sessions). 

The second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine was held with the participation of the Commission members

On June 05, 2024, the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” was organized by the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by the Deputy Chairman of the Commission Ruslan Sydorovych, and member of the Commission Oleh Koliush.

The USAID “Justice for All” Program provided international technical assistance to the Commission

On June 03, 2024, during the meeting of the Deputy Chairman of the Commission Ruslan Sydorovych with the Leading Anti-Corruption and Rule of Law Specialist of the Department of Democracy and Governance at the USAID Mission to Ukraine Jay Totte, Chief of Party of the USAID “Justice for All” Program David Vaughn and the Program’s legal advisor Marta Hlomb, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine received equipment for media classes from the Program under the international technical assistance
