Announcement. Briefing on the results of the first year of the work of the new composition of the HQCJ

On June 6, 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine will hold a press briefing “The First Year of the work of the new composition of the HQCJU” with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Commission Ruslan Sydorovych, Secretary of the First Chamber Ruslan Melnyk, Secretary of the Second Chamber Serhii Chumak, members of the Commission Nadiia Kobetska and Roman Sabodash.

The briefing starts at 15:00.

Commission members participated in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Legal Conflicts in the Application of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms”

On May 31, 2024, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Legal Conflicts in the Application of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms” was held in Lviv, organized jointly by the Supreme Court and the OSCE Support Program for Ukraine within the framework of the Project “Assisting the Supreme Court and higher courts in implementing judicial reform and ensuring access to justice in times of war”.

Commission recommends the appointment of three winners of the competition to the position of a judge, three were rejected in a recommendation

On May 23, 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, in Panels, held interviews with six winners of the competition for vacant positions of local court judges announced on September 14, 2023.

Based on the results of the interviews, the Commission decided to recommend for the appointment:

On May 08, 2024, 114 judges were appointed to local courts

By the Decrees of the President of Ukraine of May 08, 2024, 114 judges were appointed to the positions of judges of local courts.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation, 24 judges were appointed to 21 general courts (14 women and 10 men).

The average age of a judge appointed based on the results of the qualification evaluation is 41 years.

For 3–7 years, these judges had no power to administer justice.
