The qualification evaluation of four judges for their compliance with the positions held was terminated

On September 26, 2024, the Panel of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine determined the results of the qualification evaluation of five judges of local and appellate courts for their suitability for the position.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation for compliance with the position, the Commission made the following decisions:

The Commission recommended the appointment of two judges

On September 25, 2024, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine considered in plenary meeting the issue of recommendations for appointment to the positions of judges.

The judges passed the qualification evaluation and were recognized by the Commission as congruent for the positions.

Taking into account the results of the qualification evaluation, the Commission decided to make a recommendation to appoint:

The Commission’s leadership and members took part in the roundtable discussion “Attractiveness of a Judicial Career: European and Ukrainian Dimensions”

On September 23, 2024, a roundtable discussion “Attractiveness of a Judicial Career: European and Ukrainian Dimensions” was held in Kyiv with the support of the European Union funded Project Pravo-Justice. The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented at the event by the Chairman of the Commission Andrii Pasichnyk, Deputy Chairman Oleksii Omelian, as well as members of the Commission Lyudmyla Volkova and Vitalii Gatseliuk.

Members of the Commission took part in the X Lviv Criminal Justice Forum

On September 19 and 20, Commission members Vitalii Gatseliuk and Ruslan Melnyk visited Lviv to take part in the X Lviv Criminal Justice Forum, organized by the OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine.

This year’s event was dedicated to the topic “Ukrainian Criminal Justice in Post/War Paradigm”. During the forum, the participants discussed urgent issues arising in the law-based society in the context of war and hostile aggression.

Andrii Pasichnyk briefed the Congress of Judges of Ukraine on the activities of the Commission

On September 19, 2024, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, Andrii Pasichnyk, spoke at the XX regular Congress of Judges of Ukraine.

First of all, the Chairman of the Commission expressed his gratitude to the delegates of the Congress for the decisions taken the day before, in particular, the election of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

Commission members took part in a bilateral meeting between representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission on the official screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law

During September 17-19, 2024, a bilateral meeting of representatives of Ukraine and the European Commission is taking place in Brussels (Belgium) to carry out an official screening of the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law under negotiating Chapter 23 “Judiciary and Fundamental Rights”. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration – Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna.  

One judge was recognized as suitable for the position held, and one was recognized as not suitable for the position held

On September 17, 2024, the Panels of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, at its meetings, held interviews and determined the results of the qualification evaluation of four local court judges for their suitability for the position held.
