Three judges were recognized as corresponding to the position held

On November 15, 2023 the Panel of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, at its meeting, held interviews and determined the results of the qualification evaluation of five local court judges.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation for the compliance with the position held, the Commission made the following decisions:

High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and Public Integrity Council agreed upon common indicators to determine non-compliance with criteria of integrity and professional ethics

On November 13, 2023, the next Monday, the qualification evaluation of judges will be resumed. Under prior agreements, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the Public Integrity Council have agreed upon a list of indicators determining that a judge or a candidate for the position of a judge does not meet the criteria of integrity and professional ethics, as well as the principles of their application.

The Commission resumes the qualification evaluation of judges

On November 13, 2023, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine resumes the qualification evaluation of judges for their compliance with the position.

This evaluation has to be carried out by 1,884 judges of the local and appellate courts from all over Ukraine. Some of them will start the procedure by passing the exam (109 persons), while the majority (1,775 persons) will be admitted to the second stage – dossier research and interview.  

The Members of the Commission met with the Ambassadors and the Heads of the Diplomatic Missions of the G7 Countries

On November 09, 2023, the Chairman of the Commission Roman Ihnatov, the Deputy Chairman of the Commission Ruslan Sydorovych, the Head of the Commission’s Secretariat Olena Ponomarenko and other members of the Commission held a regular working meeting with the Ambassadors and Heads of Diplomatic Missions of the G7 countries.

Roman Ihnatov held the meeting with the leaders of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian Project “Strengthening communication competences of the judicial system of Ukraine by developing an effective internal communication system and sustainable communication tools”

On  November 7, 2023, the Chairman of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Roman Ihnatov and a member of the Commission Liudmyla Volkova had an online meeting with the leaders of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian Project “Strengthening communication competences of the judicial system of Ukraine by developing an effective internal communication system and sustainable communication tools” Reda Molienė and Živilė Navickaitė-Babkin.

The Commission’s leadership and members took part in the round table “The Future of the Judiciary: Discussion of Draft Amendments to the Judicial Career Procedures”

The round table on “The Future of the Judiciary: Discussion of Draft Amendments to Judicial Career Procedures” was held in Kyiv on November 7, 2023. The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine was represented by its Chairman Roman Ihnatov, Deputy Chairman Ruslan Sydorovych, and members of the HQCJ Roman Sabodash, Liudmyla Volkova, Vitalii Gatseliuk, Oleh Koliush, Andrii Pasichnyk, Halyna Shevchuk, Oleksii Omelyan, Ruslan Melnyk, and Roman Kydysiuk.

Members of the Commission took part in the IX Lviv Criminal Justice Forum

Members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Ruslan Melnyk, Vitalii Hatseliuk and Oleh Koliush took part in the IX Lviv Criminal Justice Forum (hereinafter – the Forum) held on 27-28 October 2023 in Lviv with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Co-organizers were also the State Bureau of Investigation and Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.
