Competition to the administrative courts of appeal: one candidate confirmed his ability to administer justice, one candidate did not

On May 20, 2025, at the session of the First Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, interviews were held and the results of the qualification evaluation of four candidates for the positions of judges of administrative courts of appeal were determined.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation, the Commission made the following decisions:

Interviews with candidates for the competition to commercial courts of appeal have begun

On May 20, 2025, at the session of the Second Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, interviews were held and the results of the qualification evaluation of four candidates for the positions of judges of commercial courts of appeal within the competition announced by the Commission on September 14, 2023, were determined.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation, the Commission made the following decisions:

The issue of secondment of judges to Prylutskyi City-Raion Court of Chernihiv Oblast is scheduled for consideration

According to part one of Article 55 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, a judge may, with his or her consent, be seconded to another court of the same level and specialization to administer justice by a decision of the High Council of Justice adopted on the basis of a submission from the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

Regarding the receipt of applications from candidates who applied to participate in the first stage of the competition for vacant positions of judges in general courts of appeal

Please be informed, that as of today, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine has received 159 applications from candidates, expressing the intention to apply for the position of a judge in a court included in the first group of courts at the first stage of the competition for vacant positions of judges in general courts of appeal, announced by the Commission’s decision of September 14, 2023 No. 94/zp-23 (as amended):

On May 19, 2025, at the session of the First Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine an interview was held and the result of the qualification evaluation of the candidate for the position of a judge of the administrative court of appeal Tetiana Balas was determined.

The issue of secondment of judges to 3 courts is scheduled for consideration

According to part one of Article 55 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges”, a judge may, with his or her consent, be seconded to another court of the same level and specialization to administer justice by a decision of the High Council of Justice adopted on the basis of a submission from the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

Competition to the appellate courts: one candidate has confirmed her ability to administer justice, three candidates are to be interviewed by the Commission’s plenary

On May 15, 2025, at the session of the First Chamber of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, interviews were held and the results of the qualification evaluation of four candidates for the positions of judges of administrative courts of appeal were determined.

Based on the results of the qualification evaluation, the Commission made the following decisions:

Members of the Commission participated in the conference “Ukraine on the Path to EU Accession: Enlargement Policy and the Impact of the Rule of Law” in Brussels

On May 14, 2025, in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium), an international conference titled “Ukraine on the Path to EU Accession: Enlargement Policy and the Impact of the Rule of Law” was held with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Commission Oleksiy Omelyan and Commission Member Vitaliy Gatseliuk. The event was organized by representatives of the European Parliament.
