On November 24, 2023, the Steering Committee Meeting of the EU Project “Pravo-Justice” II was held with the Chairman of the Commission Roman Ihnatov taking part therein.
The participants of the meeting summed up the results of the current phase of the Project, discussed the results of each of its components with the national judicial bodies.
Mr. Ihnatov underscored the important role of the EU Project “Pravo-Justice” in strengthening the institutional capacity of judicial authorities, in particular the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.
He noted the strong and systematic support of the Project – both expert and technical assistance to the Commission, reminded the participants about the achievements of the Project and the newly formed composition of the Commission cooperation during five months of joint work and expressed hope for the continued and fruitful cooperation in the next year (2024).
The experts mentioned the results of the cooperation between the EU Project “Pravo-Justice” and national judicial bodies within its components – “Justice Sector Policy and Coordination”, “Judiciary and Judicial Reform”, “Protection of Property Rights and Enforcement of Court Decisions” and “E-justice. Digital Solutions for Ukrainian Justice Sector”.
The event was also attended by the Head of the Steering Committee Meeting, Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration Liudmyla Suhak, Head of Cooperation, European Union Delegation to Ukraine Stefan Schleuning, representatives of the French international technical cooperation agency Expertise France, Country Manager of the EU Project “Pravo-Justice” Oksana Tsymbrivska and the International Key Expert, Lead of the Component “Judiciary and Judicial reform” Anna Adamska-Gallant, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Legal Policy Denys Maslov, the Chairman of the High Council of Justice Hryhoriy Usyk, other representatives of the European Union and EU member states, the Project team and national experts.
We would like to remind you that the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine and the EU Project “Pravo-Justice” signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on September 7, 2023. The purpose of the cooperation between the Commission and the Project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine. The cooperation involves the consolidation of efforts aimed at ensuring fair, high-quality and transparent procedures for the selection of candidates for the judge position, special training of candidates for the judge position, and qualification evaluation of judges.
