From July 29 to August 04, 2024, a member of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine Vitalii Gatseliuk took part in the XII Summer School on Constitutional Law “Rule of Law and Constitutionalism” in the village of Polyana in Zakarpattia.
The topic of this year’s Summer School was: “Constitutionalism and War: from ius bello to post bellum”. The event was organized by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Support Program for Ukraine in cooperation with the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
Vitalii Gatseliuk told the audience about the current issues of various judicial career procedures in the context of the constitutional foundations of the justice system, guarantees of judicial independence, and prospects for the formation of a professional and virtuous judiciary in times of war.
During the Summer School, the participants considered topical issues of constitutionalism in the context of war and the postwar period, listened to the opinions of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, experts from international organizations, judges of foreign constitutional courts, leading domestic and foreign scholars, and legal practitioners.
